You can pay your toll:

The charge to cross the bridge varies, depending on the type of vehicle.  You can see a full list of charges here by clicking the link below.

Yes – A toll is due each time that you cross the Humber Bridge.

A Guest Crossing refers to a crossing(s) over the Humber Bridge by someone who does not have a prepaid Humber Bridge Toll account.

If you choose not to open a Humber Bridge Toll Account, you can still pay for your bridge crossing easily by purchasing Guest Crossings. You can purchase these Guest Crossings in advance (up to 12 months ahead) so you are covered before you travel.

Already crossed? No problem. Just purchase your crossings before midnight the next day and our system will automatically match the payment to your journey.

Unpaid Toll Notifications are issued when:

  • You did not pay for your crossings by midnight the day after your journey
  • You are a Humber Bridge Toll Account customer who travelled without sufficient credit and didn’t top up your account by midnight the day after your journey
  • You didn’t add your vehicle registration number to your Humber Bridge Toll Account before midnight the day after your journey or it was added incorrectly

     

If you cross the Humber Bridge and you don’t have a Humber Bridge Toll account – or if you have an account but you don’t have enough credit on it – you have until midnight on the day after you crossed to pay.

At midnight, an Unpaid Toll Notification will be triggered and an admin fee of £25 will be added to the toll that’s owed.

You will then receive a letter with details of the money you owe and how to pay.

How it works:
If Humber Bridge doesn’t receive your toll payment before the deadline, we will contact the DVLA to request the name and address of the registered keeper of the vehicle. The UTN will then be issued to the address details provided.

Late toll payments:
Any payment made outside of the payment window will be applied to future crossings only, not the one you’ve already made.

This means that if you cross on a Monday, you have until midnight on Tuesday to pay the toll. But as soon as the clock turns midnight, an Unpaid Toll Notification will be triggered. Any payments you make after that point will only be allocated to FUTURE crossings.

Appealing:
To appeal the unpaid toll notification you will need to wait until you receive the UTN through the post before this is possible as you will need the reference number printed on it.

You can ONLY appeal an unpaid toll notification if you have not already paid it and it has not already been passed to our debt recovery agency.

Steps:

  • Visit our website www.Humberbridge.co.uk and enter your UTN reference and vehicle registration number into the Unpaid Toll Notification section (if you have received more than one, you can click on all the ones you want to include in your appeal)
  • Add a description for your appeal, adding as much information as necessary. We recommend the use of bullet points.
    Upload any supporting documents

Your appeal will be submitted for review and no further charges will be added at this stage whilst your case is under review.

You have the right to appeal up to 3 times, however must provide additional evidence for your appeal to be reassessed each time.

ACCOUNT HOLDERS

Toll fees are deducted from your Humber Bridge Toll Account balance two days after travel. Your crossings can be seen in the transaction section of your account dashboard.

It’s nothing to worry about. The consolidation of crossings, balance updates, low-balance warnings, and auto top-ups are all synced on the same timeframe – which means no one will be disadvantaged, no erroneous admin fees. It’s actually been that way since 2015 – it’s just you are noticing it with the new system.

NON- ACCOUNT HOLDERS (GUEST CROSSERS)

If you’re paying after you cross, the new system will not list your crossing after you enter your reg number – which is quite a big change from the previous system.

All you need to do is buy enough Guest Crossings to cover the trips you’ve made or about to make. As long as you buy them before midnight the day after crossing, our system will match your crossings.

No – The Humber Bridge toll is exempt from VAT; therefore VAT receipts are not issued.

The Humber Bridge Tag contains electronics, is classified as a small electrical item and so can’t be disposed of in your general waste.

We’d encourage all customers to dispose of it in a responsible way, using one of the following methods:

When you access the Transaction History on your Humber Bridge Toll account, the system automatically defaults to All Transactions. This view shows the date that the crossing was added to your account – not the date you actually crossed the bridge.

To view your actual crossing dates:

  • Go to Transaction History
  • Change the drop-down to Toll Transactions
  • Click Search

It can take a few days for crossings to appear and for your balance to update. As long as your account has enough credit to cover the crossings you’ve made, you’re all set.

No. Motorcycles do not pay a toll.

If you crossed the bridge and have since opened an account (either later that day or the next day), the previous crossings will be deducted from your account.

It will take a few days for the crossings to show. But as long as you have enough credit to cover the crossings you’ve made, you’re all set.

The good news is, if you had a previous Active Humbertag Account with a credit balance, your details will have been migrated to a new Humber Bridge Toll Account. An email with how to access your new account has been sent to the email you registered on your account.

You can create an account, manage existing accounts, and pay for guest crossings.

If you’re a previous HumberTAG customer and you have yet to access your account on the new system, you can sort that via the app  just head to Sign In and scroll down to the section marked for previous HumberTAG customers.

No. Accounts with a negative balance were not migrated to a Humber Bridge Toll account and you do not have access to discounted crossings.

We advise that you open a new Humber Bridge Toll Account online. Once this has been opened, please call our team on 01482 235500 to settle your outstanding negative funds from your closed account.

No. Over the go-live weekend, we automatically transferred your account over to the new Humber Bridge Toll system, along with your credit balance, personal information, and vehicle details.

Yes – If you’re a patient living on the south bank who travels to Castle Hill Hospital for ongoing treatment at the oncology department, you might be eligible for their toll concession scheme. This scheme is administered by the team at the Queen’s Centre, so they will be able to help with any queries you may have.

Having a Blue Badge does not qualify you to cross the Bridge for free.

We provide free crossings for people who are disabled (provided that they open a Humber Bridge Toll Account and apply for the concession) AND are in receipt of the following benefit:

A fully tax-exempt vehicle is also required, with V5 logbook classification showing ‘disabled’ for privately owned vehicles
