You can pay your toll:

A Guest Crossing is a pay-as-you-go option for people who do not have a Humber Bridge Toll Account.

  • You enter your vehicle registration and buy enough Guest Crossings to cover your journey.
  • It can be bought before you travel, up to 12 months in advance
  • If you have already crossed, you must pay by midnight the following day
  • It is best suited to occasional or infrequent Bridge users

You can ONLY appeal an unpaid toll notification if you have not already paid it and it has not already been passed to our debt recovery agency.

Steps:

  • Visit our website www.Humberbridge.co.uk and enter your UTN reference and vehicle registration number into the Unpaid Toll Notification section (if you have received more than one, you can click on all the ones you want to include in your appeal)
  • Add a description for your appeal, adding as much information as necessary. We recommend the use of bullet points.
    Upload any supporting documents

Your appeal will be submitted for review and no further charges will be added at this stage whilst your case is under review.

You have the right to appeal up to 3 times, however must provide additional evidence for your appeal to be reassessed each time.

No. You can pay for your crossings individually – either by midnight the day after crossing, or up to 12 months in advance. You will need to ensure that you purchase enough crossings to cover any trips you’ve made.

Accounts offer several benefits, such as cheaper tolls and the ability to set up Auto Top-Up.

If your account balance is insufficient to cover the toll fee for your crossing, an Unpaid Toll Notification (UTN) will be issued.

Toll fees are deducted from your account two days after you travel.

We recommend adding a payment card and enabling Auto Top Up to help ensure there are always sufficient funds in your account to cover your toll fees.

If you choose not to use Auto Top Up, please add funds to your account as soon as you receive a low balance warning notification.

If you purchase a Guest Crossing after the payment deadline of midnight on the day following your journey, it cannot be applied retrospectively to that crossing.

Any crossing that does not have a valid payment by the payment deadline will result in an Unpaid Toll Notification (UTN) being issued.

Any unused Guest Crossings will remain valid for up to 12 months from the date of purchase and will automatically be allocated to future eligible crossings.

Customers with a mobility vehicle are only eligible for free crossings once they have opened a Humber Bridge Toll Account, uploaded the required supporting documents and had the concession approved and applied to their vehicle.

If you already have a Humber Bridge Toll Account with a mobility concession, please log in and check that your current vehicle is linked to the account and that the concession is active.

If your concession has expired, please upload your current supporting documents and ensure that the £5 renewal fee has been added to your account balance so that the renewal can be processed.

If you have received an Unpaid Toll Notification (UTN), please submit an appeal for review.

No. Please pay for your unpaid toll notification by entering Enter the UTN reference from your unpaid Toll Notification into the website.

The £5 renewal fee covers the administration required to process and renew the concession.

It is important that we treat all customers fairly and consistently. However, we would encourage you to submit an appeal against your Unpaid Toll Notification so that the individual circumstances of your case can be reviewed.

Yes – You can purchase up to 10 guest crossings up to 12 months in advance.

No – The Humber Bridge toll is exempt from VAT; therefore VAT receipts are not issued.

When you access the Transaction History on your Humber Bridge Toll account, the system automatically defaults to All Transactions. This view shows the date that the crossing was added to your account – not the date you actually crossed the bridge.

To view your actual crossing dates:

  • Go to Transaction History
  • Change the drop-down to Toll Transactions
  • Click Search

It can take a few days for crossings to appear and for your balance to update. As long as your account has enough credit to cover the crossings you’ve made, you’re all set.

No. Motorcycles do not pay a toll.

If you crossed the bridge and have since opened an account (either later that day or the next day), the previous crossings will be deducted from your account.

It will take a few days for the crossings to show. But as long as you have enough credit to cover the crossings you’ve made, you’re all set.

ACCOUNT HOLDERS

Toll fees are deducted from your Humber Bridge Toll Account balance two days after travel. Your crossings can be seen in the transaction section of your account dashboard.

It’s nothing to worry about. The consolidation of crossings, balance updates, low-balance warnings, and auto top-ups are all synced on the same timeframe – which means no one will be disadvantaged, no erroneous admin fees.

NON- ACCOUNT HOLDERS (GUEST CROSSERS)

If you’re paying after you cross, the new system will not list your crossing after you enter your reg number.

All you need to do is buy enough Guest Crossings to cover the trips you’ve made or about to make. As long as you buy them before midnight the day after crossing, our system will match your crossings.

Yes – The Humber Bridge provides free crossings for those who qualify.

You’ll be able to pay your toll at any PayPoint location.

Yes – If you’re a patient living on the south bank who travels to Castle Hill Hospital for ongoing treatment at the oncology department, you might be eligible for their toll concession scheme. This scheme is administered by the team at the Queen’s Centre, so they will be able to help with any queries you may have.

Not always – having a Blue Badge does not necessarily qualify you to cross the Bridge for free.

Visit our Concessions page to find out the qualifying criteria.
