Humber Bridge Concessions

Find out about Humber Bridge concessions and how eligible customers can receive free crossings. This page explains the criteria to qualify and how to apply.

What’s Changed?

If you’re a Mobility Disabled Concession customer or part of the Castle Hill Hospital patients’ scheme, there is no need to worry – all existing concessions will continue under the new system.

However, there is one big change you need to be aware of – Mobility disabled concession customers now need to have a Humber Bridge Toll account, which will make managing your information and renewing your membership much easier.

If you, a family member, or carer, have any questions about the new system, you can contact our customer services team by calling 01482 235500.

Eligibility For Concessions

The eligibility for our concession scheme remains the same.

Mobility Disabled Concessions

Having a Blue Badge does not qualify you to cross the Bridge for free.

We provide free crossings for people who are disabled (provided that they open a Humber Bridge Toll Account and apply for the concession) AND are in receipt of the following benefit:

A fully tax-exempt vehicle is also required, with V5 logbook classification showing “disabled” for privately owned vehicles.

Private (or personalised) Registration Numbers

If you have a vehicle through motability and are using your Private/Personalised Registration Number on it, please note that you will also need to provide us with a copy of your V5C.

Castle Hill Exemptions

If you’re a patient living on the south bank who travels to Castle Hill Hospital for ongoing treatment at the oncology department, you might be eligible for their toll concession scheme.

Patients are required to provide their vehicle registration at every appointment. This scheme is administered by the team at the Queen’s Centre, so they’ll be able to help with any queries you may have.

Other

Other vehicles which are exempt (eg: Police, NHS, Fire Brigade, Royal Mail, and government and military vehicles) are able to cross the Humber Bridge for free. To register a vehicle as exempt with us, please send in an enquiry through the contact us page.

Accounts For Existing Members

If you’re an existing Mobility Disabled Concession customer, we have created an account on your behalf. You will not have to pay the registration fee that is paid by new concessions customers, however there is a £5 renewal fee when you renew your concession each year (see “Renewing your account” in the Q&A section below).

Your details were automatically migrated to your Humber Bridge Toll account, and you should have received instructions on how to access it has been sent to the email you provided when signing up for your Concession.

If you have not received a welcome email, please check your SPAM folder.

This will ensure you, a family member, or carer are able to check that your details are correct, as well as accept the account terms and conditions.

Here’s a video guide which shows you how to register for online access for the first time, as well as the key features of the site.

Quick Questions and Answers

If you’re an existing member of our Mobility Disabled Concession scheme, we’ll have created an account for you

Mobility Disabled Concession customers already have accounts. This brings those accounts into line with other users, while making it easier for members to update their information and renew membership every year.

The new fees reflect the work taken to manage records. They are in line with similar concession schemes across England.

  • One-off Registration Fee = £10 (new Mobility Disabled Concession customers only)
  • Renewal Fee = £5 (paid by all Mobility Disabled Concession customers each year when they renew their concession)

To access your new account, you will need to create a new username and password, as well as accept a new set of T&Cs.

Drivers wishing to apply for our Mobility Disabled Concession scheme will need to open a Humber Bridge Toll account online and pay a one off £10 Concession Registration Fee.

Please see the “Accounts For New Members” section above for more guidance.

You will need to renew your concession every year. We will let you know when this time is approaching.

To renew, you’ll need to provide evidence you still qualify for the scheme and pay a non-refundable Renewal Fee of £5 – the fee reflects the work taken to manage your records and keep you crossing for free.

If you miss the renewal, the concession will be removed from your vehicle and any crossings made will be subject to the standard toll for account holders.

If this happens, you will need to add enough funds to your account to pay for your crossings. If you don’t, you may be subject to additional admin fees due to unpaid toll notifications being issued.

Of course, you’ll be able to rejoin the scheme at any point.
